Once you’ve booked your dream cruise, you need to ensure you have the correct travel insurance in place to protect yourself and your trip.
Our specialist cruise extension has been designed to provide specific cover for cruise travellers, such as on-board medical treatment and missed port visits. Please note, if you’re planning a cruise you must purchase our cruise extension to be covered for cruising.
In general cruise holidays can work out quite costly, and you want to be safe in the knowledge that if unforeseen circumstances occur, you will be covered under your travel insurance. Our cruise travel insurance extension can be added to any of our single or multi trip policies.
Tailor your travel insurance policy with our bespoke cruise extension, so you can enjoy your holiday at sea knowing that you have the right cover. Our cruise travel insurance extension includes the following cover levels:
I’m going to various locations on my cruise, which geographical location do I choose?
To ensure your cover remains valid, it’s really important that you choose the correct geographical location for your policy. These are split into the categories below, and each cover a wide range of destinations:
For example, if you were sailing around Europe including a visit to Spain/Spanish waters, you would need to select Europe including Spain. If you have any further queries about where is and isn’t covered within the areas mentioned above, please feel free to give us a call.
Do I need this extension for a river cruise?
A Cruise is defined as a ‘pleasure voyage of more than 72 hours in duration, sailing on sea/s or oceans and including stops at various ports’. As River cruising does not fit these criteria you would not need to purchase the extension.
I have an existing medical condition can I still get cruise cover?
You can still obtain cover for your cruise holiday if you have a medical condition. However, you must declare your conditions to us, and they must be confirmed by us in writing.
Will I be covered if I am unable to leave my cabin if I fall sick during my cruise?
Included in our extension is cover for cabin confinement. If you are confined to your cabin, you can receive compensation for each 24 hour period spent. You will also receive compensation if you are unable to attend any pre booked excursions due to cabin confinement.
